Sweet Chutney (Meetha Chutney)

This accompaniment is a must with chaats and many snacks.  It makes anything taste even more delectable!  This one ingredient makes dishes/chaats friendly for the children even.



Ingredients:

  • Tamarind paste - 1 tsp
  • Jaggery (or) brown sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin and Fennel powder - 2 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 0.25 tsp
  • Salt - one pinch

Method:

  • Put Jaggery/Sugar with half a cup of water on the stove ('Soup' mode in IP)
  • When it dissolves and comes to boil, reduce the temperature 
  • Let it bubble for a minute and thicken
  • Add tamarind paste and boil for another minute
  • Add the cumin, fennel and red chili powders, along with a pinch of salt
  • Turn off heat and let it cool
  • Chutney is ready for use with any chaats or snacks


Tips and Tricks:

  • Use very little water or the chutney won't thicken
  • This chutney can be stored in the fridge for at least 2 weeks
