# of servings:  4
Preparation Time:  10 mins            Cook Time:  25 mins

Minimal ingredients, maximum taste, awesome benefits/nutrition...  This snack is a complete package in itself!  Don't be deceived by the name because these chips are not bitter at all!!

Ingredients:

  • Bitter gourds - 4-5
  • Besan (gram flour) - 3 tbsp
  • Salt
  • Red chili powder - 0.5 tsp

Method:

  • Cut the bitter gourds into thin round slices
  • Take out any seeds that may be hard
  • Preheat the oven (or) air fryer at 380° F (195° C) for 3 mins.
  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the dry besan, red chili powder and salt
  • To this, add water very little by little and make a slightly runny paste
  • Add the prepared bitter gourd rounds to this and toss to coat them all well
  • Smear/spray some oil on the trays and spread the bitter gourds in a thin layer
  • Fry/bake them for 18 mins., flipping them midway
  • Fry/bake them at 400° F (200° C) for another 3 minutes to make them more crispy.  Add a couple more minutes at this temperature if a crispier outcome is desired
  • Set them on a tray to cool for a few minutes
  • Serve them along with a cup of tea/coffee!

Tips and Tricks:

  • Cutting them oblique will give bigger and better-looking chips
  • If the gourds are more mature, the seeds can be hard.  They need to be taken out.  Tender seeds can be left in place
  • Slicing them thin gives crispy chips and reduces cook time too
