An effortless way to use up a bunch of ripe bananas.  This is so easy to make that even young children can make it!  This recipe will quickly become a favorite to make and savor.  It is also used as an offering to Gods in Temples or during poojas.

Ingredients:

  • Bananas - 6
  • Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar - 6-8 tsp (as per sweetness of bananas)
  • Cardamom - 3
  • Edible camphor - 1 pinch (optional)
  • Roasted gram powder - 1 tsp (optional)

Method:

  • Cut the bananas into circles or cubes, as per preference
  • Sprinkle sugar on top of the bananas
  • Add grated coconut
  • Powder the cardamom seeds and add
  • Powder the edible camphor (if using) with two fingers and add
  • Toss everything gently just before serving
  • If using, add the roasted gram powder and toss again
  • Serve immediately (offer to God before serving, if using as prasaadam)

Tips and Tricks:

  • Bananas release water quickly.  Hence tossing just before serving will avoid a soupy outcome
  • To avoid browning of the bananas, sprinkle sugar on top soon after cutting them
  • Roasted gram powder soaks up some excess water and slightly alters the taste too.  Use as per preference
