This fragrant delicacy with a twist can be made in no time and is perfect to be consumed after a meal.  Along with leaving an aromatic aftertaste, it aids digestion too!  (Betel leaves are full of antioxidants that can restore the pH levels of the gut, relieving upset stomach, and constipation.  Gulkand reduces fatigue, aches, muscle pain, and stomach heat.  Highly medicinal!) 


Ingredients:

  • Gulkand - 4 tbsp
  • Ghee - 4 tsp
  • Betel leaves - 8
  • Bananas - 2 (optional) 

Method:

  • Chop the bananas into small pieces (if using) 
  • Remove the stem of the betel leaves and chop them into small pieces
  • Place all ingredients into a bowl and mix gently
  • Serve as a quick dessert as well as digestive 


Tips and Tricks:

  • Gulkand is a  a sweet preserve made from rose petals and sugar.  Naturally aromatic and medicinal too
  • Wrapped in betel leaves, gulkand and other stuff is eaten as paan.  But chopping up leaves and mixing them into gulkand makes it easier to eat and relish in small bites.  
  • Some people like to relish gulkand without any interruptions (like banana 😊)  Hence, adding bananas is optional
